Michael was a brilliant teacher who lived for his job. Sadly he was made redundant in 2006. He worked at Gosforth West Middle School and was respected and loved by all his students and colleagues. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. God bless, Michael.

Angel by Jimi Hendrix

Angel came down
From heaven yesterday,
Stayed with me just long enough
To rescue me....

And she told me a story yesterday;
About the sweet love
Between the moon and the deep blue sea.

Then she spread her wings high over me.
She said,Ill come back again to see you tomorrow....

And I said fly on, my sweet angel.
Fly on through the sky.
Fly on, my sweet angel.
Tomorrow Im gonna be by your side....

Sure enough,
This woman came home to me.
Silver wings silhouetted against a childs sunrise....

And my angel,
She said unto me,
today is the day for you to rise.
Take my hand, youre gonna be my mind,
And she took me high over yonder.....

And I said fly on, my sweet angel.
Fly on through the sky.
Fly on, my sweet angel.
Tomorrow Im gonna be by your side....

Psalm 51

Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your steadfast love;
according to your abundant mercy
blot out my transgressions.
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
and cleanse me from my sin.

For I know my transgressions,
and my sin is ever before me.
Against you, you alone, have I sinned,
and done what is evil in your sight,
so that you are justified in your sentence
and blameless when you pass judgement.
Indeed, I was born guilty,
a sinner when my mother conceived me.

You desire truth in the inward being;
therefore teach me wisdom in my secret heart.
Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;
wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Let me hear joy and gladness;
let the bones that you have crushed rejoice.
Hide your face from my sins,
and blot out all my iniquities.

Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and put a new and right* spirit within me.
Do not cast me away from your presence,
and do not take your holy spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation,
and sustain in me a willing* spirit.

Then I will teach transgressors your ways,
and sinners will return to you.
Deliver me from bloodshed, O God,
O God of my salvation,
and my tongue will sing aloud of your deliverance.

O Lord, open my lips,
and my mouth will declare your praise.
For you have no delight in sacrifice;
if I were to give a burnt-offering, you would not be pleased.
The sacrifice acceptable to God* is a broken spirit;
a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

To a kindred spirit

So sad to hear of Michael leaving at such an early age, I was googling and this news made me remember that I knew him from the age of five in Durham.
We shared many a smoke and a few drinks in our teens while listening to Little Feat, Spirit , but I will take with me the memory of Samba Pa Ti by Santana, I hope he is now at ease and chilling to the Sounds.

Remembered with much affection

I just "googled" Michael on the off chance and was very sad to find that he had passed on. Although it is 40 years since I last saw him, I instantly recognised the twinkle in his eyes and remembered that he was , shall we say, a bit mischievous in the those far off days of childhood in Durham.
I am soory now that I never met him again, not least when I see references to Spirit, one of my favourite bands. The tributes show me that Michael was a much loved figure, and I am glad for that.
I will remember our escapades as children forever Michael. Rest In Peace

So sorry to hear about Mike

This is just so sad. I couldn't believe it when I was told about this.

I used to be on Gosforth West Parent, Teachers & Friends committee, and Mike Beswick was one of the only members of staff who gave time freely to help the school on a regular basis. Every meeting, he was there, same with fayres and discos.

He was a really good man, very genuine and committed to the school.

There couldn't be another 'Bezzie', a great character who will be sorely missed.
